I just bought a skim board for my son , and we were wondering if he should wax his skim board before getting it in the water, and if we do, how should we wax it?

Since we're new at this, what kind of wax or what brand should we use?

Where can we find the wax??

  1. Yes! Wax is a important thing to have for a skimboard because it will make the skimboard less slippery which makes it easier to ride. To apply it you just basically rub it on the spot where the front and back foot will usually be when riding. I also reccomend that you buy a pad for the skimboard if it's main use will be riding into waves.

  2. Use surfers wax there are many brands on the market. Most waxes are a combination of petroleum wax and bleached bees wax with a bit if cocnut oil added for smell.

Water temperature plays a big role. Buy a soft wax for cold water and a hard wax for warm water. Surf shops usually stock the right wax for the area.
