Should I wax my new Option board?

I just got a new option board (a Pro Am) i need to know if i have to wax it im going boarding 2morow... Plz answer!

  1. You typicaly don't "need" to wax your new board, but cleaning and re-waxing is not a bad idea either.

    New boards often come with a "factory wax". I always clean the base of any new board with a citrus base cleaner and then apply my own hot wax before riding it. I have two reasons for this: 1) the factory wax is an inexpensive wax that is applied to protect thee base until it is sold. 2) The wax is typically clotted with dirt (look at what comes up when you clean it!)


  2. yes, wax is your friend.  you should probably have it hot waxed but if you cant get that done, rub on would work for a day.  a board witout wax is like trying to snowboard on grass, no fun and makes it hard to controle your board.  it actually makes it easier to catch edges when you dont have your board waxed. have fun and have a good season.
