I'm interested in taking riding lessons, and I've already signed up. I've heard that its better to wear leggings instead of jeans when riding. Is this true? And does anyone know whereI can get riding boots (not show boots just ones I could use for my lessons) for an affordable price?

  1. Jophurs are a better choice while riding because they allow for mobility and do not ride up your calves like jeans do. Also they have grips on the knees which will help your position among other things.

As for boots I suggest that you look around local tack shops, many have consignments that you can get for cheap. I suggest that you get a paddock boot instead of a tall boot to begin with again because of mobility issues and it is easier to train your leg position without the challenge of smooth leather against the saddle. If you don't have tack stores near by Dover Saddlery has an online store that always seems to have sales going on.

Good luck!!! You won't regret learning to ride!

  2. it just depends if the legings are snug because if the slide down it can be a bit rough

as for theriding boots..try the tack shop of where you plan to take lessons.

  3. you can definitely buy some breeches. they are specially made for riding. and for boots, i suggest if your a begennir to get rubber ones. when you get more expertish :p then  you can get into the more expensive, better boots.
