Question:

Should I wear the wedding dress to the venue?

I am getting married (both ceremony and reception) on a dinner boat this Monday. I have a choice of wearing the wedding dress onto the boat or wearing something else and changing into the wedding dress in a small dressing room on the boat. Disadvantage to wearing the dress to the boat is that people who arrive early will see me in the dress before the "walk down the aisle" part. Advantage is that I can dress at home rather than in a somewhat cramped room. Can anyone give me advice?

  1. Do all your hair and makeup before getting to the boat then just put on the dress when you get there.  Make sure you have something to cover your hair and face if your dress has to go over your head so you don't get makeup on your dress.   Congrats

  2. I would wear the dress to the boat and have some kind of a light full length cape or jacket you could wear to hide the gown. That will also help to protect it from getting dirty or messed up on the way.You can only wear it that one day so make the most of it!

  3. Dress on the boat...you don't want to risk getting sweaty, dirty or wrinkled on the way OR having people see you before the ceremony.  A small room will do!  I got ready in a small room at my church and I wouldn't have done it any other way.

  4. When I got married, I never wanted to take that dress off.  You only get to wear it once, might as well take advantage.

  5. You only get married once and you are only a bride once.  I would wear your wedding dress.  Perhaps there is a way to hide you?   Consider waiting in the car until everyone is seated for the ceremony, then be the very last person to get on the boat.  That way, no one can see you.

Talk to the boat company.  I'm sure they will understand your situation and try to accomdate your situation.  Try to arrange a way to shield you from guests.

But, wear your dress!!!!!   You only get married once!!  Feel like the bride, while you are the bride.

  6. As long as your dress isn't difficult or uncomfortable to walk around in or sit in the car in on the way to boat, I say go for it and wear it!  You only get to wear to wear it for one day, so wear it as much as you want to!
