Question:

Should I worry about a small piece of broken contact lens in my eye?

I'm only on my second week of using contacts, this morning after I put my left contact in, it felt really irritating so I took it out quickly after I put it in - like a few seconds afterwards. I thought maybe I put it in inside-out.

When I took it out, a tiny piece of the edge was torn off.

Very small, but I'm not going to be able to get it out,

is this a problem?

  1. It will most likely work it's way to the corner of your eye and dry up. Nothing to worry about, unless it is really bothering you, then you should probably get it checked out.

  2. yeh you dont want to cut your eye out lol

call your doctor or optician and ask them

im sure theyll give you more proffesional advice than some people on here

  3. Ummmm - YES.  Anything foreign in your eye is something to be concerned about.  Go to your optometrist today to have the torn piece removed and get your contact replaced.

  4. Go to a doctor.

I'm not a doctor, but I'm sure that anything that's inside your eye and doesn't belong to your eye is definitely not good.

  5. You do need to get it out. Either speak to your contact lens provider or see a doc.

  6. see a doctor asap. search for the truth. seek and you will find - god-willing.

  7. yes its a problem. your contacts should not have any rips, tears, or visible debris on them. if there are any of the above, toss them and put on a fresh pair. these things can scratch your cornea, which is very painful and makes it difficult to see clearly (personal experience)

  8. If it is too big to go out the normal way like a small piece of dust would, you should go to your eye doctor and have it removed.

You only go two eyes, don't mess with them.

  9. Yes its a problem! Not only will it probably irritate your eye, making your eye red and then making you stop wearing contacts until that redness goes away.. sometimes a few days for my eyes .. you will also have to deal with the irritation which will annoy you dearly through the day. I have only just gotten out of my habit of trying to still wear them and am now throwing those ones away.. even if it means i have to buy more lenses sooner
