Question:

Should I worry about my digital camera and ipod on an airplane?

I'm going to be taking a short flight from chicago to new york and back and I was wondering if the airport's x-ray machines are effect my Canon G9, a couple SD cards, and my ipod. I'm planning to take these in my carry on, if it's allowed, but I know either way it will be scanned.

Has anyone had any problem with this?

  1. it's okay to bring your ipod and digi cam on board the plane, as long as you follow safety procedures on board.....you don't need to worry about being it scanned in the xray machine.....aiport officials  know if it's a bomb or not.....just stay calm...^__^

  2. Nope, I've never had a problem with it...the only reason cameras sometimes couldn't be X-rayed was because of undeveloped film, but since digital cameras don't use that, you won't have to worry about that.

  3. these are digital producing componets, there is no film or tape to be exposed to x-rays. only a small harddrive in the ipod and a memory stick in the cam, you should be more careful not to expose these items to any magnetic fields more than x-rays.  they are both as safe as putting a radio thru the machine.

  4. no problems till now......201000 miles and still running.....

  5. As long as you don't put them in the seat pocket in front of you, you'll be alright. Folks generally forget them when they put 'em there. I promise you that the cleaners won't try to get them back to you if you forget.

  6. I travel with both my digital camera and ipod and have never had an issue with either of them going through the x-ray machines at the security checkpoints.
