Should ICC recognise ICL and thus help the cause of cricket rather than playing subservient to BCCL.?

By doing this both ICL and IPL will get the huge young talent at the school and college level easily. Today BCCL bars those young players who contarct with ICL from playing for the country. This is high handedness at the worst.

  1. Eventually some arrangement has to be woked out... but for now - there won't be any decision.

There's a legal side of the story - where ICC cannot really refuse ICL's membership or recognition; Then there's the economics side of the story - where IPL and BCCI will leave ICC and start a parallel organization as soon as ICC recognizes ICL.

With the current leadership in BCCI/IPL - nothing's going to change - it will be a long running battle. BCCI and IPL are private bodies - so the people who are in control can and will make changes to the rules so that they can stay in power indefinitely. They are already doing that.

Things can change from three different angles:

    1. We the cricket lovers say "enough"... and get IPL, ICL and BCCI to work together; (Nay! Not happening)

    2. Indian Govenment put's pressure directly or through legal system to get both at the same status (Nay! Too much else in their plates)

    3. There's a split in the ranks within BCCI/IPL and the entire system breaks down

Given history of Indian organizational culture, I am afraid the 3rd one is going to happen - sooner or later.

    Until then...
