If Al Gore, Yasser Arafat, & Kofi Annan can win it, why not her? The Nobel Peace Prize isn't the same today as when it was originally set up in the 1900's, 'peace'. From her background, I give her no chance for it.

No, that would encourage other idiots to go into territory where they might get kidnapped.  Rather then a Nobel Prize, she should be handed a bill for the rescue.  That was all taxpayers' money and the taxpayers deserve to get their money back.  

Given that she willfully walked into the hands of potential death, she should receive the Darwin Award, if anything - that is of course after she returns all the money used for her rescue.  (She intends to profit from her misadventure by writing a play so she should have no trouble paying back her debts to society.)

Really, I'll never understand why idiots get a hero's welcome when they end up as hostages due to their own misjudgment

seeing as she's been captive for 6 years I don't think she's done much to earn the Nobel peace prize

Other than being kidnapped and held captive for 6 years I don't know what she's done - has she helped bring peace somewhere - if so then perhaps she should be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
