Let's call the dictatorships bluff. Refuse to cover the games until free speech is given to journalists. What do you think?

  1. Journalists should cover as much as possible of what is going on in China -- or anywhere else in the world, for that matter!

That is part of being a journalist: to be the eyes and ears for the public at large who can't be on site to witness the events, ask the questions and relay the information (as honestly and evenhandedly as possible).

Journalists in China should be very, very careful, however, since that country has an atrocious history when it comes to free speech and the public's right to information.

  2. Yes,,,, not only that but i think that the international olympic federation should cancel the games under the ruling of breach of federation rules,,reappoint them at an other previous venue, lets start getting tough. See how they would like all those fancy buildings going to waist

  3. just cover sports....it's not a political convention.

  4. No, I don't think so. It's kind of reverse censorship isn't?

I don’t support a boycott and I want the Beijing Olympics to be a success.

But the Games can still be a chance, while the world is watching, to press China for change.

Talking about censorship and other human rights abuses is not meant to take away from the pride and excitement that Chinese people have because their country is hosting the Games.

And it isn’t political. To stand up for human rights, freedom of speech and freedom from censorship is to stand up for the values enshrined in the Olympic Charter.

And not forgetting the scores of athletes who have trained for years for this, and would be caught in the middle.
