I think he should he really isn't productive for the red sox and has the most errors on the team. I think Jed Lowrie is much better than him.

  1. I think they are stuck with him. Its gonna be really hard to find someone that needs a SS that badly, especially HIM.

  2. Maybe his future on the team is as a utility player.  Shortstops are usually capable of filling in at many positions.

A's had a shortstop, Bert Campaneris, that played a game one inning at each position, solely as an exhibition.

  3. Traded or released yeah.

I want em to pick up Orlando Cabrera from FA... but I think they will go with Lowrie.

The Red Sox have a lot of big decisions to make this off season.  Ortiz has been hurt, Manny is gone, they keep stranding runners.... the bullpen choked outta no where.. can't get to Papelbon safely... will Tek want too many years?... who will catch then?... What will happen to coco? will Bay stay or be trade bait?

  4. why release him? i am sure you could get at least a mid-level minor leaguer for him, right. he makes WAY too many errors, and doesn't really produce, as you have noted. some team will take him, and put him as a backup. lowrie has been great, much better than the sox could have asked for. lowrie is starting next year, thank god, and if not, epstien stinks

  5. I am so positive that the Sox should get rid of him that I would eat his contract!!!

  6. both are difficult. Most wont take a mediocre short stop and his 9 million a year salary. My guess- Released early next season.

  7. Most people are ignorant of his really high OBP, but if he is traded, they'll have to eat up most of his contract. There's no way he's released because then he'd get $18 million for doing nothing. I'm guessing he's on the team next year and Lowrie is traded, whether he's better or not.

  8. I don't think the Sox will be able to move Lugo without eating the majority of his contract much like they were forced to do with Edgar Renteria a couple of years ago. I think Lowrie is a better choice than Lugo, and hope the Sox find a way to get rid of him. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try and move him in a package with one or two of their young prospects as a throw in, in the off season.

  9. They shouldn't have even had him in the first place.
