Should London consider the rest of Great Britain...?

If Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not willing to support, say a football team. Surely this means they couldn't care less about Olympics, and so in the Ceremonies all the traditions of Wales, Scotland and NI should just be totally ignored??

  1. london is a crappy town.  give me newcastle any day.  2012 newcastle

  2. I think they should have co-host city for some events in Wales etc.

It is possible. Beijing has Hong Kong and Qingdao as co-host city for Equestrian and sailing.

  3. Not wanting to have the gb football team doesn't mean they don't care at all about the olympics. Having the gb football team means that they may lose their identity. They should also spread the events around the whole of the UK. e.g. athletics done in Scotland, swimming in Wales, etc, so that the whole of gb gets to take part. Because it's in London, it's not very accessible to go to because it's quite far away and i'm not paying £90.00+ for a one way ticket on the train.

I have shortened GreatBritain to gb to save my time.

  4. I think we should be the u.k for once

  5. Let's be a United Kingdom for once, and forget our differences!

  6. Football is an odd one.

As there is no 'British' FA FIFA will not permit a UK football team to take part. The FAs of Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland are concerned that a British FA will mean they will lose their own individuality.

As in all sports it is up to the individual sports governing body to say what is permitted etc.

  7. i live in  wales i and i support the welsh football and rugby team but when it comes to the olympics i support the british team as there are athletes from wales , i think its unfair for all the sports to be happening in england and think the sailing events should be held in north wales (abersoch area) as that is were most national and international and comps and galas are held , i do not think all the traditions of all the other country's should be held as its not only a team from england that will be competing and think all traditions should be recognised xx

  8. Football is a totally separate issue - I think it's great that the country is united in support of our athletes in the Olympics.

There is a danger that the home nations could lose their individual right to play as four nations. I don't think anyone involved in football in UK wants to see 'team GB' in the world cup etc.

  9. But the athletes can come from England, NI, Scotland and Wales so i don`t see your point really. The National Anthem is the British anthem not English.

  10. its all london this and london that, as its the only place in the uk.

    :(

  11. England would be around 175 in the medal table if not for Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland where most of their best athletes come from..
