Should McCain and Obama visit Iraq? Is this a senator's duty?

Is this official business of senators? or does this impair his duty to his people here at home? Isn't this rather assuming? Is one of these senators assuming that he will be the next President of the United States? Is this a rather arrogant thing to do?

  1. As senators, I agree, depending on the committee. But I think as presidential candidates that they should. They should go over and meet with our military commanders over there and see what's really going on.

  2. them showing up for any appearence is not their duty. going to iraq would just interfere with their buisness in the senate if they even do anything. them trying to make us like them has nothing to with the professional buisness they supposedly do

  3. I think if they are going to help run this country, yes they should. Over here all you hear is gossip. Only until you are over there and see for your self what is going on (minus the politics) will you know what is true.

  4. Members of the Senate take foreign trips frequently. They represent the USA and it is important they get out in the world and see what is going on. They need to see the result of American policy and come back and report to the citizens.

  5. It depends on what committee they sit on in the Senate.  The armed forced committee or the foreign relations committee members absolutely should go.
