Should NASCAR combine a weekend with the IRL?

Question

I have always liked the weekends when both series have run at the same track(non Cup anyway). I mean why not benefit both series? Win win situation ..?? Helio,TK, Smoke, Gordon and Danica etc...etc.. at the same track on the same weekend once a year....?

who cares? I mean, if the network wants to, fine. But NASCAR shouldn't affiliate themselves with the IRL. NASCAR is the giant, they don't need to play "host". I wouldn't watch it. Like I told my co-worker today it's getting harder to watch NASCAR when there's so much going on in the summer. I feel I should be recording the NASCAR races and watching them when I'm done playing outside. But I really like to watch the race live. All it takes is for the pre-race show to start and I'm glued to the T.V.. I wouldn't watch any of the other races. I just don't have the time to sit around.

This was brought up but IRL said running in the same weekend with the IRL race on Saturday would me demeaning to the series and IRL said it would never be second rate to Nascar. I agree and I would love it but IRL is being stubborn and can't say I blame them.

That would be pretty cool Tbone. The trucks and the IRL have run here in Texas together for as long as I remember(Thats not long lol). Ive witnessed the IRL guys practicing up there and its the fastest thing I have ever seen besides the NHRA.

That would be an interesting idea. I love all forms of racing so it'd be cool to see them try something new like that :D

If you can sell the France family on it and as long as it is not the weekend of the Dodge,Ford,Chevy,Toyota 3-500 it should work. I doubt the manufacturers would like the idea of promoting a weekend for a Honda spec engine race.

doesn't that bring up some tire issues - rubber laid down from one series causing problems for the tires in the other? or is it no worse than when they run other series at the same place on the same weekend?

EDIT: and GoDaddy could sponsor the whole weekend, with danica and dale being the godaddy girl and godaddy guy.

You might get your wish they are talking about it already out here in Calif for Fontana, people love open wheel out there, it could happen in the next 2-3 yrs, and also they are planning a road course inside the track as well for Rolex and AMS series as well.. Aren't the trucks and IRL running in Texas this weekend??  Open wheel and cup, trucks whatever it would be great...Wow Dale Jr and Helio the same weekend...I'm there...

That's a cool idea. They should run both races on the same day and make them shorter with like a half an hour break in between.

Yeah, the Nascar fans could party while the Indy race was going on.  Then the Indy guys could watch the Nascar race and see what real racing is.

The Nascar truck series did a doubleheader weekend at Las Vegas with the IRL a few years ago. There were isssues with the different tires laying rubber down on the track. I think overall it was a great idea.

Huh? No way ! The tickets would be outrageously priced. Why help open wheel? They made their own problems. I used to be a fan, not any more. Only watched the first few laps of the Indy 500 which I do every year since the split.
