Should NBA coaches vote for all stars and MVP's?

I think they should. I hate when the fans vote for all star becuase 9 times out of 10 a injured player will be on the team

(example 1997 Penny Hardaway over Rod Strickland)

I think the coaches and GM's should vote the MVP because the sports writers have no clue. What u think?

  1. Coaches should be the ONLY ones to vote for all-stars and mvp's. They know who are the best players, they know who they'd like to have on their team, and they know who they HATE to have on the opposing team. AND it would take away all of the popularity c**p!

  2. no coaches suck

  3. then it makes it less fun for the fans

  4. How about the players themselves vote for there all-stars and regular season awards? They know best.

  5. yes they should cause im sick and tired of seeing players get in the allstar games just because of their names... guys like Shaq... h**l he doesnt even do much now and hes still int he allstar game!? guys like AI. Nash and stuff..

while the guys like Kevin martin, Hedo turkoglu Mike bibby, Rudy g*y and other guys like them get snuffed out by these names...

coaches and GMs know WAY BETTER than fans when it comes to basketball... its their job.. basketball is just a recreation and a hobby for us fans so they should know who and what to vote... most of the time people vote guys who are in highlight reels than players who do more... hard working joes are ignored for spot light hogging dunking guys and stuff

  6. I think it should be a combination of both, but coaches would have more weight than the fans.

  7. no cause the coaches will all vote for there players

  8. No, then they would vote for their own players (or at least there will be conspiracies)

  9. I'd still let the fans vote for the All-Stars.  It's an exhibition game for the fans' enjoyment and the fans should be able to at least choose the starting 5 that they watch in the game IMO, even if it means the picks seem "stupid".  (Let the coaches pick the other ~7 on each team like they already do so that the deserving players who aren't fan-favorites have a chance to be All-Stars too).

The regular season MVP is a worthless award IMO, so I don't care who votes for it one way or another.  Why is it worthless?  Look at the last 5 regular season MVPs:

Kobe '08 - did not win NBA championship.

Dirk '07 - did not win NBA championship

Nash '06 - did not win NBA championship

Nash '05 - did not win NBA championship

KG '04. - did not win NBA championship

If you go back to 2000, Tim Duncan is the only regular season MVP to have also won a championship in the same year.  Really, how "valuable" were those other guys if they couldn't lead their team to a championship??

If you ask me, let the Finals MVP be the only MVP award in the NBA and let the coaches etc., vote on that to avoid "popularity contests".  Nobody cares how well you play in the regular season if you don't win a championship.
