  1. they should be able to be captains or at least assisstants, broduer would def. be captian of the devils. last year on my midget team we gave our goalie an A. the other teams we played or refs never said anything about it.

  2. Not captains or alternates. And if you think about it, a goalie is a captain/coach on the ice. They set plays, they control the stoppages of the game for their own defence or to cycle out lines. I think Jeff answered it best, though this needs to be added as well.

  3. No i dont think so. Jeff above said it all perfectly.

  4. Yes they should

  5. If it's Luongo, Kipprasoff, or Brodeur then yes.

  6. No. The actual game duties of being a captain involve skating over to meet with refs, and that alone would create huge delays (a goalie is not allowed to cross the red line unless coming to the bench in the second period or overtime in the playoffs).

Also, if a call needs to be argued a captain needs to be close to the refs at the time for a quicker reaction to something, not to mention a better view.

The rule is there for a reason, it makes sense.

In terms of leadership, it does not matter who wears the C. In Buffalo, Miller is the primary leader on that team. Guess who it is in New jersey.

You don't need the letter to lead, but you do need to be a skater to wear the letter for practical reasons.

  7. I completely agree with Plain Ol' Jeff. However, I just though that it could be possible if your goalie was your captain then you could have 1 of your assistant captains to do the stuff you mentioned. I agree with Plain Ol' Jeff though and I just wanted to post a possibility even though it would be unlikely.

  8. I agree with Plain Ol' Jeff...  Goalies cannot be captains because captains are required to talk and dispute with officials.  Goalies will not be able to skate the length of the ice to negotiate with the officials and then get back into their nets.
