I think so in order to give himself time to rest before Rome and Hamburg since they are back to back MASTERS. What do you think? It's not like he needs to play Barcelona...

  1. He should do whatever he considers best for him to get prepared for the French, whether that means playing every clay tournament or skipping them selectively.  Roland Garros is the one that matters.

  2. Thats a good question, i was thinking the same thing maybe Rafa is taking on too much. However he is sensible enough to no what his body can handle, he wouldnt jeprodise Roland Garros, he knows he`s got a tough battle on his hands throughout the following tournaments Rome, Hamburg and so on, i think Rafa will do really well and hope he wins them all ! Vamos Rafa

  3. Will that help him win the Wimbledon?

  4. He's so fit, he can easily do it.  It's not a difficult event and the crowd is so much behind him that he'll get a great surge of adrenelin. Should be an exciting tournie.

  5. yes. so he can be well rested to defend his title in  Rome final in Hamburg...

  6. Nadal should play all the clay and grass season and take the first 2 weeks of the hardcourt season off.  That way, he maintains his ranking, and gets back on track with the hard courts just in time for preparation for the US Open.

  7. Yes.  I wish he doesn't play that much clay court matches.  It seems the clay season always put his body in question later in the season.  I honestly think Rafa entering Monte Carlo and Rome should be enough preparation for the French Open.  But then again, Rafa just loves clay :)

  8. yeh probably

he tires himself out in the beginning of the year (even a beast like him gets tired)

then does poorly in year end masters and toruneys

last year he lost in paris and madrid both times to nalbandian, who played like half the matches he did

  9. He should not skip a tournament where he is king of the surface

  10. yes

  11. Even if you think he should skip it, Nadal will play in Barcelona. He considers it one of the important tournaments. Unless, he is injured, Nadal is playing Barcelona.

  12. If he wants to secure the Number One ranking, he must play all clay court tournaments, because it's his strongest surface.

But personally, I would not play if I were in his position.  It's just too hard on his body, and he'll be setting up himself for an upset at the French Open, where he MUST reach the final.

It's too bad that the tournament schedule is so crazy!!!

  13. 50-50... 50% yes... because i say he plays a lot... 50% no... because he nEED to defend the points he got last year or else he will lose points... another thing is nadal is not playing today.. (april 28,2008...) i dont think he'll play also tomorrow.. hope not.. to give him a day off... and last proof is all he's matches last week in singles haven't gone in 3 sets! hope he could get 1 or two days for day off...
