Honestly, I think going international is NOT a good thing.  Just the logistics of getting entire teams and track management overseas is an expense that NASCAR cannot afford right now.  

This is not mentioning dealing with foreign tracks who's design philosophy is totally different.  Walk an F-1 track in Italy or France and you will really see what I'm talking about.  

As far as Japan goes ... I bet it would get attention with Toyota in the game now but could NASCAR turn a profit or write it off as a promotional expense the way the NFL is writing off foreign played games now.

Nationwide as in Nationwide Insurance company not Nationwide as in the United States, which could be seen in any case because that series races in Mexico & Canada every year.

It is called Nationwide, because that happens to be the name of the title sponsor.  Nationwide Insurance.   The series has a race in Mexico and Canada, that is international enough.  The cost of sending a car overseas would be crazy compared to the prize money. (unless NASCAR could guarantee a certain amount)

Nationwide is a insurance company that sponsors the series. Besides, is would cost to much money for the teams and NASCAR to send all those people and cars to different countries.

BTW, we'd get bombed in Afghanistan.
