  1. they claim they do test

but only if theres reason to believe theres a problem

  2. OH YES.  The drivers, pit crew and all involved should be tested rademly.  If they are under the influses they can hurt alot of people plus themselves.

  3. Absolutely!!  When one driver is putting 42 other drivers life at risk because of drug use I would think nascar  wouldn't turn a blind eye to the situation.  It seems that their drug testing policy is on paper only when you hear driver such as Tony Stewart, Dale Jr., Carl Edwards etc. say they have never been tested.  I congratulate KHI for starting their own drug testing program.

  4. To me this is pretty much a no brain er

They are professional race car drivers and if they can't do without illegal  drugs they

They should be in the NBA where it is  allowed

  5. yes

  6. Good question. I think they should random test three drivers every week.

  7. drug test

  8. Yes I do periodically at random

  9. they should do drug tests for sure

  10. two things to say here:

    1) NASCAR really doesn't have a drug problem, comparatively speaking. i think the rare offenders have been caught. Anyone stupid to get high before driving a 3,500 lb. car at 200 mph deserves a lifetime ban. I think most racers get that.

    2) They should have an outside independent agency test the drivers randomly. It will help pu the doubters to rest.

  11. yes, they should test.  for nascar officials to claim that those in the garage area are a self-policing group who would know when something is amiss, aaron fike proved them wrong.  yeah, a couple of guys came out after his admission and said they had suspicions, but they did nothing about it. the definitely need to be more proactive, if not on their own then on placing mandates on the owners.

they have been very tough on drivers (and others) who fail to pass tests when given: shane hmiel was banned for live two years ago after failing his third drug test.  aaron fike was banned for life even before he was convicted or pled.  these were good decisions, but made a little too late.  and, of course, both are already racing again in lower level series.

at the very least, i think nascar's position should be to mandate drug testing policies to be implemented by the team owners. they have no problem mandating safety features for the tracks (if they want to host a nascar event), such as requiring SAFER barriers and such, why not mandate a policy for owners to be handled similar to the way KHI is handling it?

and not just at time of employment, but randomly and periodically throughout the year.  for those who main claim it's a violation of civil rights - it is not.  many employers, especially those in high-risk industries (truck drivers, air traffic controllers, etc), are randomly tested routinely for safety reasons.  and nearly every time you sign a contract to work for someone, there is a "drug-free work environment" provision that allows employers to test at will.

finally, i believe that testing drivers alone is not the answer - anyone working on the cars, either at the track or back in the shops, needs to be drug tested as well. making sure any and all of those people are operating substance free (including alcohol) is just as important, if not moreso, than testing the drivers.  would you want a mechanic or other crew member working on your car who hadn't slept in days, or who is stoned out of their gourd?

finally, i think it is probably most important that nascar test its employees, particularly the officials, as mistakes on their part can easily cause more damage than that generally caused by a stoned jackman.  can you imagine a nascar official hallucinating, or worse, continually nodding off during an event?

and this coming from a member of the "we don't just say no, we too busy saying yeah" generation...

  12. absolutely

  13. NASCAR does already test.

  14. Nascar does do random drug tests, don't fool your self.

ask Rusty Wallace that use to drive Miller's #2,,,,he can vouch they do random drug testing on all the drivers and you never know when they will pull one on you.

and, they are not drug users....their owners would not hire or allow someone on drugs to race at 200 miles an hour.

  15. Everyone who pays taxes should be tested for drugs. Teachers and students should be drug tested. Cops, Soldiers, Politicians, Labor workers should all be drug tested. People who apply for public assistance should be drug tested. People who enter from another country should be drug tested. And while we're at it lets put a micro-chip under everybodys skin and track them by GPS, and put a tattoo on the bottom of their foot with a UPC code. Let's make life worth living. We have no rights. Not even the right to speech.

  16. Yes. But that is not enough in itself. One thing that is worse than drugs is lack of rest. A tired person can make worse mistakes than a drugged person. For instance some drugs increase awareness and some decreases reactions.

Try driving 500 miles after you have been awake all day and you'll see what I am talking about. Do it at high speeds and it's even more stressful.

Lack of rest is no good behind a wheel. When the body can't take no more it shuts down. Drugs you can build a tolerance to. Lack of rest you can't.

  17. I think its the team owners responsibility to test it drivers. The drivers don't work for Nascar and it should be their teams job to monitor them. The owners should check their drivers every time they show up to the track. Now if the owners don't want to do the responsible thing and check not just the drivers but the whole crew then Nascar Should come in and fine the owner. If a driver was to be caught with drugs he should be suspended for the remainder of the season and fined big time. They have to be harsh with drug in motor-sports because unlike football and basketball in racing everybody from the driver to the tire changer is at risk. I don't think it should be Nascar, MLB, or the NFL's governing body's job to test as an owner i would think it's just good business to keep the house clean and apparently Kevin Harvick feels the same way now it's time for the big boy's to do it. If Rousch or Gibbs were to start testing then everybody would do it to save face.

  18. Yes they should drug test. The average middle class American has to be able to "pass" a drug test at the time of employment and some at any given time, for most jobs that are any good, so why not these "athletes" of a different realm who are responsible for driving a 2500 lb vehicle at sometimes up to 200 mph for hours. Obviously these guys should have their head on straight even way more than stick-and-ball guys.

  19. i don't think anyone would be stupid enough to  hire a drugy to drive there car
