Question:

Should New Zealand host the 2011 World Cup?

NZ have been critized for having sub-standard grounds (Eden excepted) and not the infrastructure to host such a presitigeous competition.

Should it be moved to Australia which would cope better and it would be easier for the world to get to?

  1. All other nations should simply boycott the tournament -  until a more suitable and less pwecious and more comfortable envirionment /replacement is found.

    Isreal perhaps?

  2. New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and should be left alone as much as humanly possible.

  3. Australia only just had the world cup if you can remember?. No it shouldn't be moved to Australia it has been decided and that's that. Also what about Hawkes Bay, Wellington, Auckland,Hamilton,Southland did you forget about the other towns and cities in New Zealand and the Facilities they have. Remember it would be very hard to find a town or city without a rugby ground.

  4. its a pity that japan did not get it, but now that it has been awarded to NZ there is no reason to suggest they will not be ready in 4 years.

  5. Well mate, the criticism is unfair. Nrth Harbour stadium is a World class venue, as it the cake tin and we haven't even started on the South Island. Beijing Olympics was given without ANY sports arenas???

    1. It wont be moved to Australia (so not even an option)

    2. Infrastructure is sound and world class.

    3. Its less hassle for us to transport the cup to our trophy room

We heard all this claptrap, when "The Lions" were bringing and army to invade us and drink us dry! They got hammered on the field, drank under the table, and 15,000 immigration applications during the tour.

World cup 2011, hosted and owned by NZ.

*edit* Listen! If you have never been to NZ stick a sock in it! Clare- you just haven't got a clue.. third world? Check the link.

  6. Nah, its about time the RWC was held outside the 'normal' circuit of Rugby nations. Japan would be ideal. They have enough stadia from the 2002 soccer world cup, and the support from the Japanese public would be amazing.

Theres nothing wrong with NZ and its stadiums, but I think we should try and spread the good word around a bit more!!!

  7. Yes, it will take four years and I do hope they can improve facilitates.  I think that Canterbury and Otago are the stronghold of New Zealand rugby.  They could increase there stadiums by 100 % and still fill them year in year out.  We have the infrastructure and I am sure we fight centres all over the world know where New Zealand is, so it would be  great opportunity to come down under and have a good time.

  8. No.

They have 4 years to improve there grounds and be left with the lasting legacy of improved venues.

As far as not being easy to get to it didn't stop thousands of British and Irish fans getting there for the last lions tour.

  9. New Zealand is a truly beautiful country but...no they shouldn't have got the WC. It should have gone to Japan. NZ stadia are third world.

  10. I think you are totally right, lets move on this... let's see what we can do... oh wait, we have no authority whatsoever... and why would it be moved to Australia even if you were remotely accurate with your statements?

Just another of the endless stupid questions here lately.  Do you want to know where to get the "ole" horn tune as well?

BTW, the NZ Trophy cabinet only has cobwebs in the RWC section... the rest is overflowing with constant use... unlike Australia's which is absolutely bare right now isn't it?

    ***edit***

lol this question was stupid well before I read it... your response is actually closer to where you pulled this question from I think.

  11. Who goes to a rugby ground to check out the stadium??

    and

Why should the j**s be hosting the 2011 RWC, I see alot of people saying they should but not stating why.

  12. they are already hosting it. i am going to see it

  13. You just have to be an Aussi??? to come up with that one.

There's nothing wrong with the grounds in NZ or there wont be by 2011

  14. How ever much you regret the WC 2011 being awarded to NZ, it has already been done and you got to live with it.

4 years - that's a long time away and surely everything would be on line when that 4 years are up.

I don't have anything against NZ hosting the WC 2011, but I would have much preferred if it had been awarded to Asia - Japan and South Korea to jointly host it perhaps. They could have done a much better job of it and if some body asks for experience, easy, just take out the FIFA WC of 2002. Can't ask much more than that.

  15. Doesn't really matter since they ARE, does it?  They did in '87, don't think anyone complained then.  Maybe that will be when they finally win again?
