Should New Zealand name Taylor vice captain?

The Kiwis have gone as far as naming Ross Taylor as the “stand-in” for Daniel Vettori should the skipper be unable for any reason to lead the side against Bangladesh and Australia this February/March. Which leaves one wondering why they didn’t just name him vice-captain and be done with it.
