Question:

Should Nudist/Naturalist have Equal Access to Public Pools?

There are nudist fighting for the right to swim in a public pool in Seattle Washington. Appearently the nude swim had been going on for several months until they had issues with lifeguards being on duty, and having to be at least 21 years of age.

It's turning into a civil rights issue.

Should a nudist be allowed in your public pool? Would this scare you, and why?

  1. Only if they were attractive women. ;)

  2. Yes its clear that they are discriminating against the nudists.  The story said they let muslim women use the pool on other nights and only require their lifeguards to be 18 and not 21.  There is actually no reason for a lifeguard to have to be 21.  They are either qualified or not.  Only qualified lifeguards should be working there regardless of age.

  3. The public pool is "our" pool, meaning the property of all who pay taxes as is all publicly owned property and should be equally accessible to all.

If this is a swim suit problem; may I say that when I was in college the only time that I remember ever seeing a swim suit in the men's pool was on Saturday afternoon when the pool was opened to the community, and then they were few in

    number.

If The nudists have no swim suit problem; I'm at a loss to see why that should be a problem for anyone else.

  4. As long as the people who used it were actual nudist, and they did not make it a sexual situation in any way, I would not be totally against it. So many demonize the naked body because they are worried if someone sees a naked body they will be tempted to sin, or act on a sin.

My fear would be if people used it as a place to be perverts, either for sexual reasons, or came just to exploit them with cameras and voyeur them (the creepy folks), I would not want to be near those two groups because they would be taking pictures of me with perverted intentions. I wouldn't feel comfortable in that environment.

If the people who were doing the nude swimming and sunbathing were there, the family-oriented types, it might be kind of interesting, something you don't see everyday. You have to go out of your way to see real nudist, and then they kind of want you skimp down with them to be with them.

If for anything else, I would like to see topfreedom open to females, at least to be held to the same standards as guys, if they so choose.

  5. Obviously there are some of the other people who haven't read the question properly.

This is not about Mr & Mrs Smith being allowed to walk around Walmart naked, its about an enclosed pool allowing people to swim naked for a set time.

As for the lifeguards age? The swim I used to attend provided their own lifeguards, and paid for their training. Age didn't come into it because the club employed their own so the normal guards wouldn't be required.

To the gent who said he didn't want to explain to his non-existant child why the man was naked? My parents were just like you, and when I went to 'senior school' (year 7 as its now known) and had to change in one room with lots of boys my age I realised we're all the same and became (to my parents disgust) a nudist. So thank you to everyone who see's things like he does, cos your kids are our future.

  6. Why should anyone be scared of nudity or nudists?  It's just skin!

Of course they should be allowed equal rights to Council property, and I don't understand why the age restrictions.  I've been into family nudism since the age of 19 and have only once witnessed one incident of bad behaviour.

  7. No they shouldn't, because not every lifestyle people choose to accept is constitutionally protected.  A pedophile can't call kidfucking a religion or lifestyle and get away with it.  Public lewdness and nudity is illegal and offensive to some people.  I'm not going to tell people how to live, but I don't want to have to explain to my young daughter (if I had one) why a grown man is walking around naked.

  8. Imagine you are a parent, would you want your children to see naked adults and then have to explain the differences between men and women.

Based on that I would say no.

If it was there own private pool on there own land, then have at it!

  9. I believe that we (Americans) are too hung up about nudity or the human body in general. Other nations do not have a problem with this. Females tan topless or nude. Men wear speedos. Why in the land of the free should we be constricted to what we can wear.

    No, it wouldn't scare me.
