If PSU & Pitt would've stayed independent in football would that be one of the best conferences of all time? I mean u hav ND, PSU, Pitt, Navy, and Army all in the same conference & most likely more teams would come.

  1. No the Big 12 right now is better than that. The Big 12 has Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas Tech, and Kansas. All of those teams are ranked in the top 14. Plus if they would be there they wouldn't get any National credibillity because they could just get easy games.

  2. Big picture, I do not think anyone views Navy and Army as anymore than marginal IA NCAA teams.  I predicted the ACC would take in Miami and Va. Tech five years before it happend.  My office coworkers felt it was "impossible."   Pitt should have covered itself by meeting with the ACC and offering itself as the link between Boston College and Maryland.   This Big East Conference is a short term proposition.  It makes no sense to have almost 20 teams in a basketball league.  And 3 or 4 football teams with good records BECAUSE they play an inbreed schedule of each other.   PSU would have served itself well as offering to "save" the Big East when is was reconfigured a few years back.   WVU has an unsophisticated fan base and they think they are close to national title.  Which could be true under the reality of weakness of schedule being more important than performance factors.  I really do not see a serious fan accepting the academies as legitimate conference members.

  3. For starters Thomas P is a freaking idiot. Joe Paterno even stated it himself if he knew that the Big East was joining together to form a league he would have opted for the Big East. Miami left because of the travel expense it cost the program and the other two left because they

wanted to be with Miami plus being in a conference that has a conference championship. But what have they done since then 0-9 in BCS play. That Sucks. The teams that won the ACC lately are former Big East teams. And these teams cant touch the new teams of the Big East today. Shoot UConn could beat Virginia Tech and Boston College, and Miami not alone S.Florida and West Virginia, The(So Called) big three did the Big East a huge favor by leaving.

Back in 1988-1989 the Independant schools that could have formed together a conference that could have been the true Big 12 conference that would have been by far the superior conference even surpasing the SEC .The schools offered membership could have easily been these programs.

    Big 12 North

Notre Dame ( No NBC contract yet)

    Penn St

    Pittsburgh

    Syracuse

    Boston College

    West Virginia

    Big 12 South

    Florida St

    Miami

    South Carolina

    Virginia Tech

Georgia Tech ( Cant remember exactly what year they joined ACC)

So if the Big East plays an inbred schedule what does it say to the SEC that got their tales whipped by all the Big East teams they played and course the Fiesta Bowl whooping and even when WVU offense dominated by freshmen that year stunned Georgia (seniors out of the ***) in their own backyard.

SEC fans are a bunch of spoiled dumbasses. If they ever had a playoff system I doubt any SEC school would have had a NC. because if they ran into the Big East Champion being WVU or Louisville in the past 5 or 6 years they would have been beaten. Owe up SEC fans you cannot or have yet to find a way to beat the Big East . And give up hope of Aurburn beating WVU at their own game in Morgantown. Not.

The way its going, it seems the only team that beats a Big East team is a Big East team. All four loses Pat White suffered 26-4 as a starter has been to other Big east schools, never lost outside the big east.

  4. ya that would be good cuz more team would come but still it wouldnt happen
