Question:

Should Peter Mueller had been a finalist for the Calder Trophy?

I am not saying he should have won it but some would say Mueller is underrated because of where he plays?

Could where Kyle Turris plays (Phoenix) prevent him from being a finalist or end being underrated as Mueller in the eyes of many?

  1. No................Mueller sucks...................doesn't belong in the league.......................

This year was a great rookie class, with several players that should be stars.  I count Mueller in that group.  But when you are up against Backstrom, Kane, Price, Toews, Gagner, Gilbert, Enstrom, etc.................it's difficult.

People like Kane and Toews, Backstrom with Ovechkin and Semin, the youngsters in Pittsburgh, and Mueller, Hanzal, and Turris all have the benefits of playing a lot early in their career and gaining confidence because they are playing with peers instead of grizzled veterans (although Doan forgets he's on the wrong side of 30 sometimes).  In the end, I think it will make them all better players, and their teams will benefit.

I've praised Mueller before and you know that (and Carcillo).  I think Turris will be the best of the bunch in the end, but Mueller won't be far behind.  I read a report a couple of weeks ago written by Claude Carrier of the Devils front office and they see Mueller as top 5 in goals by an American by the time he retired.

  2. Mueller finished 5th i believe.

and that plays a big part in the eyes of the fans i believe, but Mueller doesn't posses the skill that Kane or Toews does. Even Backstrom is a much better playmaker.

I think Turris already has a lot of attention from playing a game this year, so he will defenetly be looked at with the likes of Stamkos and Doughty.
