Should Peter Siddle’s injuries have been managed better?

Should Peter Siddle have been rested more during the Australian summer as he played through injury? He’s now got a back injury that will keep him out of cricket past Australia’s series against New Zealand in February/March 2010.

Hindsight is 20-20, isn’t it? Siddle was rested at one point during the ODI series against Pakistan, but came back in the fourth match.
