  1. You mean should he HAVE done? I'd say no, because that was a local fracas that we shouldn't have been involved in in the first place. It was a civil war and had nothing to do with Communism spreading to the West.


  2. No he shouldn't have. Kennedy and McNamara intended  to pull out our observers out by 1965 and Johnson felt that it would be a defeat and increased our troops. Watch the documentary Fog of War.
