Question:

Should Prozac (fluoxetine) eventually help my nervous stomach?

I had a major anxiety attack 2 weeks ago and since then have not been able to eat. My anxiety and panic attacks revolve around the severe phobia of vomiting. I get hungry but I always feel butterflies in my stomach and I have no appetite.

I started taking fluoxetine again for the 2nd time (I went off it a year ago cuz I was able to manage my anxiety... big mistake). I have been on 10 MG for 3 days now.

I don't really remember how I felt before but I am starving. I am so hungry but feel nauseous all the time and nervous. I am so afraid to eat! Does Prozac eventually help nervous stomachs to the point where I can eat again? For anyone who has experienced this before, how long does it take prozac to help ease a nervous stomach?

Any suggestions? Thank you.

  1. According to the information provided by you, I think you are anorexia, anorexia against the best to see a doctor not to use, the following verbiage and entirely void of the article were provided anorexia, how to rectify non-pathological anorexia. Want to help you.

  2. Prozac has no direct effect on the stomach  unless it causes side effects.  It works by diminishing stress which causes the gastrointestinal symptoms.

Many patients do not experience any positive change for up to 3-4 weeks.  Additionally, the medication must be take regularly and without missed doses so that the serum level reaches and maintains desired level.

You not only can, but must eat in the meanwhile.  Eat small, partial meals, frequently as opposed to regular size meals 3 times a day. Avoid foods that are fried, spicey, or strong in flavorand/or odor. Try cereals without fruit (milk tolerance is individual), crackers, mild cheeses.
