  1. Since it already is, and has been since Confederation, it's hard to give an opinion because there's nothing to base it on. It is, however, providing a framework for the aboriginal peoples to establish 'Nations within a Nation' and also claim distinct society status.

  2. no they should not be.   They are not Native to Canada, they immigrated as well, many of them may not actually be French in origin but come from somewhere else.  They also lost the war against the English but still manage to get away with a heck of a lot.

  3. hmm... this is a tough question.

it is a distinct society and it is already recognized as one...

so i think thats ok, as long as people are open minded to the culture and accept it as well as all the other cultures there are in Canada...

  4. NO, all citizens of this country should be equal, and special status should NOT be given to make some citizens more equal than others.

  5. I think that's a question for Canadians, and I'm not one.  In the U.S. the Native American nations have a special independent type of status within their U.S. citizenship that grants their nations a certain amount of autonomy; I'm sure that and other setups around the world have been explored as blueprints for similiar arrangements for Quebec.

While I strive for personal independence, I also recognize that a certain amount of community compromise is necessary for the good of society, since in this day and age it is impossible for any one person to be an island.  I worry that in its zeal for independent rule, Quebec risks destroying what is a great country, and the sum of splitting that great nation into two will be much less than the whole it is now.
