Should Relief Pitchers be considered for the Cy Young OR should they have their own Award?

  1. Dont the relief pitchers already have some sort of Delivery Man of the Year Award?

    Well, I would like to see relief pitchers can their own award.

    I think Cy Young should only be given to a certain innings pitched minimum.

    EDIT: Like the Rawlings Gold Glove award.  I think it kinda takes away from the true baseball.  It makes it almost an advertisement.


  2. There is the Rolaids Relief award, but closers are as much pitchers as starters, but just in clutch situations....

  4. no way they should be cy young winners unless they have 10 wins and 30 saves.  i love closers though, thats some of the best baseball to watch them pitch.  should call it the Matador Award, cuz thats what they do.

  8. I think they should have their own award. They definition don't get enough credit, and they're very very important to a club's success. They need to name it after a guy like Mariano Rivera.

  9. They have their own award, but they should be considered just as highly as some starters are. They control the game in the late innings and what they do help seal the game.

  11. Absolutely, they should be considered, but given that relievers pitch far fewer innings, they should have a much higher bar to clear.
