I believe that it's really better to be inducted while you are alive, but in this case... could he be inducted soon?

  1. No, because the Hall's charter does not have a classification for broadcasters.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Frick Award, given annually to an outstanding broadcaster. Caray would be a worthy honoree for that some year, I think, yes.

The Hall bestows the Frick Award but recipients are not Hall Of Famers in the clearest sense. It is a separate award the Hall administers.

  2. Yes. He was the face of TBS when Braves were the beloved of everyone. No one gave greater analysis or statistics.

  3. Good announcers don't make it into the HOF which is reserved for only the very best, and Skip, although a great guy, does not fall into that category.

EDIT:  I didn't want to go into a lot of detail but Chipmaker is correct, It is the Ford C. Frick award that goes to broadcasters, in the broadcasters HOF, which is acknowledged by MLB.

  4. He is already a member of the Braves HOF but i think he deserves to be a member of the regular HOF! Good question!

  5. I think some year in the future he should get the Ford Frick award, and there is a wing for announcers in the HOF.

I think thats what you mean, because the HOF doesn't recognize announcers.

  6. yes

  7. Definitely he was the braves best announcer the mlb had he had been an broadcaster for 30 years and I think its the best thing to do.

  8. Sure why not, I think they should let everyone in when they retire that way we'd have less of the "should so and so be allowed in the Hall of Fame" questions!! great idea!!

  9. yes! he had great career and they should honor him!
