Question:

Should The NBA Recant the Defensive 3 in the Key Rule?

I think they should because ever since the rule was implemented there has been a gradual use of the high pick n roll to the point that it is excessive.

Now every team does it and every team counters it the same way by having the guy guarding the guy setting the pick go around the pick and take a big step.

It's silly and the NBA is losing its man on man angle to the game.

Allowing the Center to once again stay in the key the whole time will put a stop to this foolishness. So do you agree?

  1. No I disagree. The Center can just step in and out. If the center can just stay in the middle the whole time they'd only be guarding the basket. I think the 3 second in the key rules a great rule!

  2. the 3 second rule stops centres and power forwards from camping in the key.  it forces them to at least play to their man (so to that extent, it actually does help with the man-to-man play).

not all teams play the pick and roll, and some can't even defend it (see: Phoenix Suns).  Also, if you're running an isolation and clearing the floor, it means that there isn't some great big goofball in the middle of the key
