Given the attempts on his life, his long struggle against Mugabe which has for the bulk of it been a lone struggle an isolated warrior and only significant figure within Zimbabwe to really make a stand against Mugabe. Given now he even has a huge risk on his life don't you feel that he really deserves to be honored in some way and recognized as a hero internationally? What I mean is you don't see this type of character making appearances in N.Korea or Iran or Syria do you? Given his struggle to save his people don't you agree that he should get a lot more heavy handed support from the outside and some award in recognition of his great struggle? If so what do you think it should be?

  1. Yes!He is!!It takes a very brave man to stand up to psychopathic murderers and intimidators such as the likes of Robert Mugabe!

  2. The fact that one person is a demon doesn't automatically make his opponent a hero/saint.  I do think Mugabe should be opposed much more vigorously, but how much are we talking about?  Saddam Hussein was just such a demon, and look at the mess unseating him led to.  Everybody wanted to see him fall but nobody wants to put the pieces back together.  When a tyrant is unseated, there's a grab for power.  I think that in Tsvangirai's case yes, there should be more heavy handed support from the outside, and honoring him would be along the lines of that kind of support.  It keeps the situation in the world's eye.  Like acting--any press coverage is good because when people ignore even bad news about you, you're done.  Washed up.  I admire those who take on the role of martyr because it isn't easy, but it attracts attention.  Like Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma.  The U.S. doesn't recognize the country's name change, by the way, because it doesn't recognize the military regime as legitimate.  The rest of the world should follow suit.

As far as pushing Tsvangirai into international diplomacy, be very careful.  I'm reminded of the actors who won't hesitate to give their views on anything under the sun.  Just because they're popular doesn't make them knowledgable.  If we know nothing about his diplomatic skills, it's best to leave that one lie in wait for a bit.

  3. He is indeed a hero.   The only accolade worthy is a free Zimbabwe.   Now that Mandela has spoken out that could be somewhat nearer.

  4. I agree that he's very brave. Maybe he should get the honorary knighthood that the Queen stripped Mugabe of recently!
