  1. In my opinion yes they should..I lived through the time when there was a draft and survived.  The rich affluent S.O.B.'s will always find a way out of serving as they did during Nam.  little georgie bush and deadeye d**k along with rush limppecker being classic examples.

  2. not right now, there isn't that bad of a demand for troops thank god because there are enough willing men and women who volunteer. The only reason a draft should be implemented is if world war 3 or something of that magnitude occurs. There just isn't that much war out ther to justify a draft right now.

  3. question: what is the war for??

    they shouldn't, obviously

they should draw out of iraq, Afghanistan & wherever else they are

and while we are on the subject they should leave the cuba military base, did you know the 50 years are up?? the only reason they are there is because they refuse to leave

one other question: have you ever heard of the geneva convention??

  4. No.

Because drafting citizens creates much discontent.

If one is anti-war, implementing the draft would be the quickest way to end the war in Iraq.

  5. I would like to see a mandatory 2 year service for those that do not complete high school or enroll in college upon graduation or trade school.  The combat arms and the support branches are full of misfits already so the quality will not go down too much.  It would give people without much going for them a fresh slate and take care of our numbers problem in the military.  My unit deployed to Iraq at 60% or so strength.  We should really do SOMETHING.  I felt terrible when I got off active duty just because I knew they were going back over soon and would never get to 100%.

  6. No.  A volunteer force is more effective.  In essence a military draft is a violation of the "takings" clause of the constitution.  i.e.- there is a pay amount where voluntary service will be sufficient to meet military needs.  If conscription is required that is evidence that the service is more valuable than the pay and thus the government is taking something of greater value (your service) and paying you less than the market rate is.

  7. No.

FACT:  Draftees are substantially less motivated, less disciplined, and more difficult to train than volunteers.

IMPLICATION OF ABOVE FACT:  The Draft doesn't work.

OPINION:  Conscription violates the Constitutional ban against "Involuntary Servitude"

CAVEAT TO ABOVE OPINION:  The USSC does not agree.

CAVEAT TO ABOVE CAVEAT:  They've been wrong before.

  8. I don't think they need to, I doubt it will happen.
