Not counting-court order volunteer work, should volunteer work come with some form of tax credit since you are helping your community or your fellow man. Since it is work that the government doesn't have to provide. What is your opinion?

  1. i think that would take away from the meaning of volunteering...more ppl should make volunteering\helping others out a priority...

  2. Why not give volunteers tax credits; they often do important work the government can't do or mangles or regulates. Great pork barrel project waiting for a law, don't you think?

  3. Volunteer means "free".  No.  It would put an undo burden on the receiver to report hours and be a bureaucratic nightmare for groups that really need the manpower.

  4. If there was tax credit they would probably owe me quit a bit at 30 plus hours a week.I don't do it for money, I do it for the animals.Animal Control volunteer. However, I would like to see volunteer work a requirement to receive welfare benefits.

  5. What a good idea!
