Should WWE Unify/Remove some titles? ?

Yes, they definitely need to do this. There are way too many titles and all of them are meaningless except for the WWE Title and World Heavyweight Title.

If I were WWE, I would:

-Unify the WWE and World Title again (and for god sakes get rid of the spinner belt)

-Unify the ECW and IC title (and make the IC title the 2nd most prestigious belt again)

-Unify the Tag Titles

-Unify the Women's title and Diva's title

-Keep the US Title as a secondary mid-card title, kinda like how the European title was

-Bring back the Cruiserweight Title so that the Cruiserweights actually have something to compete for.

Though my ideas require that the brand split end, which I don't see happening anytime soon, unfortunately.

IMO, having 2 World Titles is lame. Before when you had the WWE belt, you could say that you were the best. Now it's more like you share the limelight with the World Heavyweight Champion. Back in the day, being a 5 time champion was huge. Today it's much easier to be a 5 time "world champion" because there are 2 belts to compete for. Not to discredit Edge, but is he honestly on the same level as Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold, and Bret Hart (5 time WWE Champions)?

The IC title used to be the second most prestigious title in WWE. Back in the days of the Two Man Powertrip it was treated as almost equal to the WWE belt. There are many greats that have held this belt, especially when Bret Hart used to main event shows defending the IC belt. What about those legendary ladder matches for the IC title: Razor Ramon vs Shawn Michaels or Triple H vs The Rock? Today the IC title is barely defended on PPVs and there hasn't been a feud based on the belt in ages. The ECW belt needs to go. It's quite clear that WWE doesn't even care about ECW.

The Tag Team division used to be amazing. The great Table, Ladder, and TLC matches were all for the Tag Titles. Nowadays the belts are hardly defended at all and there are barely any credible tag teams.

The Cruiserweight Belt would give Cruiserweights something to compete for. If they're not in a match with each other, they're usually jobbing to the bigger superstars, which is really a waste since the cruiserweight division is really entertaining.

Just an idea. Cutting down or unifying several belts, I think, would be an interesting idea.

Anyone have any thoughts, agree, or disagree?

  1. IDK about all that but I do agree get rid of the spinner belt, and maybe just get rid of ECW in general split the superstars on that show up between Raw and Smackdown, and have Tuesday nights as a show that has both Smackdown and Raw superstars on it. I also agree with you on the crusierweight title look at the success of the "X Division" on TNA, Crusierweights are fun to watch, especially if they are actually competing for a title.

  2. I completly agree.....They should go back to the basics, one world title, one or two mid-title, tag team belt, one woman's title and a cruserweight title.

  3. i must agree to everything that you've just stated.. besides, what's the use of multiple title belts? for example, the WWE Championship  & the WWE Heavyweight Championship.. it'll just lead to some confusion with regards to the significant difference between those two titles.. & yeah, they should get rid of the infamous spinner belt & bring back the traditional one..

  4. That would be a great idea if all of the brands unified. That would also be a great idea. Pretty much every thing you said makes perfect sense and maybe I wouldn't get bored of WWE anymore.

  5. I dont tink ne titles shud b unified bcz world heavyweight title n intercontinental 4 raw!wwe n united states 4 smackdown n ecw heavyweight title 4 smacdown!

bt i do tink de divas n womens championship shud b unified becuz it wud make 4 new storylines n matches n wud improve ratings!!

i also tink dat one of de tag titles shud b gotten rid of n an intergender title shud b brought in becuz every1 liks de diva superstar storylines!!

    whoo long answer!!

  6. The WWE has too many championships.  Or rather, they are not distributed correctly.

NO company should ever have TWO World Titles.  As you say, the two the WWE have aren't really World Titles, because neither is THE World Title.

Here's the way I'd do the championships if I were in charge of that:  Each brand would have their own singles championship.  Call it the US, the IC, and the ECW Championships (or just call them by their brand names, RAW Championship, etc.).  They would be contended the way they are now.  Each brand's Champion would be considered a number one contender for the World Title.

There would be ONE World Champion and that champion would "travel" from brand to brand, defending the World Title, as it was in the "territories" days.  The World Champion could spend a month on RAW so they could develop a rivalry between he and the RAW Champion and the World Title match would be held at that month's PPV.  Whoever wins would then "travel" to Smackdown to take on the SD Champion at the following PPV, then on to ECW.  The World Title would only be defended at PPVs.  The brand championships can be defended whenever it makes sense in the storylines.

There aren't enough tag teams to justify two sets of tag titles, so there would be ONE set of World Tag Team Championships.  The Champs would, too, travel from brand to brand, taking on the various tag teams in non-title matches.  The Tag Titles would only be defended at PPVs.

There are far too many talented cruiserweights for there NOT to be a championship for them.  I would bring back the Cruiserweight Title, and once again, the Champion would "travel" from brand to brand.  The Cruiserweight Title would only be defended at PPVs since it would be considered a "world" title, too.

I would delete the new "Divas" Title, there aren't enough women wrestlers to justify two World titles.  The original Women's World Title would remain, and would only be defended at PPVs.  Right now, there aren't enough female wrestlers, or interest from the fans, to justify any more women's titles.  That would be subject to change should the WWE acquire more female wrestlers and the fans' interest goes up.

I would also create a TV Title to be defended only on TV (not at PPVs).  The Champion would also "travel" from brand to brand defending that title at least once a week on one show or another.

One World Champion, One Women's World Champion, One set of Tag Champions, and One Cruiserweight Champion.  The titles would only be defended at PPVs.

One Champion for each of the Three Brands, the titles defended at anytime it fits in the storylines.  Each champion would be considered the top contender for each brand and the number one contender for the World Title when the World Champion arrives in their "territory".

One TV Champion, traveling from one brand to another, defending his title.  The TV Title would only be defended on TV.

  7. wait a second you want them to remove belts? I am sorry I don't think they should. They should keep removing wrestlers and then add a few belts like hardcore and cruiser weight. also the spinner belt is dumb well did you know that wwe has ordered a new world title and its going to be a spinner one. also i think everyone knows that 2 different brands or shows you need different belts. last time i check i don't think cena is on smackdown nor is HHH on raw

  8. Yeah they need to get rid of the spinner belt it was john cena's idea, and it looks stupid.
