Question:

Should Walgreen's be responsible for more than just my prescription?

What would you do if this happened to you? Is this one of the horror stories you hear on the news?

Or really nothing to worry about. I went to my local Walgreen's today to get my Doxipen 10 mg. refilled. I take 2 at night for fibromyalgia. When I got my medicine the pharmacist said that the last time they filled this medication they gave me 100 mg caps. my mistake (in other words I have been taking 200 mg instead of 20 mg. per night). She told me since they made the mistake that they would not charge me for this prescription. I was just in shock and did not know what to say and went to my local doctor where he ran some liver and kidney test on me. (the doctor that prescribed this drug is from out of town). I called him when I got home and they are to call me later. I can not believe they let me take 100 times the amount I was suppose to for a whole month!! What would you do if this happened to you?

  1. First, not that it makes it any better, you were taking 10 times the normal amount of medication, not 100 times the amount.

If I were you, I would wait for the doctor's report. If some harm has been done to your health, then you should obtain an attorney who'll advise you on your rights.

If no harm is done, you should still write to Walgreen's corporate office to let them know what happend and to complain about the carelessness of the local pharmacy. They may choose to offer bigger amends.

  2. I would want to know who made the mistake the doctors or the pharmacy...If it was a careless mistake try to take actions against the right person..My prayers are with you...Blessings...B.Mack/Sir Isaac Hayes--RIP..BLESSINGS YAHOO

  3. Unfortunately prescription mistakes are one of the most common causes of death in this country, and one of the most common mistakes in health care in general.. It is really your responsibility to know what your doctor prescribed for you and how much you should be taking.
