Question:

Should Yahoo Answers be boycotted by Americans?

Why?

The free and reasonable speech of posters is often challenged or "removed" by the host.

The people who answer often reply with attempted control statements like, "you are supposed to form a question." or, "stop generalizing." Often the intellectually elite who fester while viewing this site come back with answers one would expect from inmates in prisons.

These types of statements run extremely counter to a society where free speech is supposed to be allowed and tolerated. Especially when it is reasonable speech filled with decent arguments.

This website and it's members have shown with absolute consistensy a leaning towards anti free speech views...especially when the speaker has a valid point that is hitting too close to home.

This site and many of it's members should represent themselves with communist themes, logos, flag pics etc...to correctly represent themselves.

Hows that for generalizing?

Commies!

  1. Freedom of speech is not freedom for anarchy. Even in the most raucous and open debates, there are rules of participation. I can't imagine any place that is an out and out free for all. Even "hate group" forums have rules.

  2. it would probably improve the quality of the answers, and the questions too most likely.

but americans miss out on a chance to shoot their mouth off? i can't see that happening this millennium.

  3. lol

  4. Freedom of speech must not be curtailed but participants on this forum must follow the rules.

  5. First, understand that free speech does not mean that you can say anything anywhere.  If I go to a very religious friends house, I would not expect to be allowed to spew blasphemy.  When I go to a liberals house, I do not try to force my beliefs on them.  When someone comes to my home, racist and bigoted comments will get you kicked out the door.

Free speech does not mean that you can go to a place someone is hosting and say whatever you want.  They have the right to moderate.  Now, free speech does mean that you are more than welcome to start a forum where people can say what they want how and when they want.  THAT is your right.  If you want to create a flyer or pamphlet and share it with people on the street you can.

  6. Yahoo Answers is  fun. It sure beats watching TV.

  7. LOL.  Its their company, their site, their rules.  We don't have to like them.  But if we don't, we are free to take our business elsewhere.

Start you own ISP if you dont like their rules.

  8. the QUESTION YOU ASK--HAVE BEEN-CENSORED BY THE USES OF yahoo--Q&a--pLEASE RE FRASE YOUR QUESTION--pLEASE REPRASE YOUR ARQUMENT

  9. yah i know it sucks, but we have the right, an freedom to walk away an not be a part of it ♥ *

  10. If they keep allowing reporting by people who don't like your point of view then, YES!~!

  11. Hmmmm

    Cheers

  12. I think that the decisions can be a little lame  / they lack judgement / common sense.

a 24 hour boycott might be a good idea to send the message lol.

let me know when you propose and i'll support you.

  13. Your right, but imagine you were living in Britain, we already have a communist government; shutting down the freedom of speech, expression and the right to be a Native. Believe me you Americans have it made; by the way, that skunk Tony Blair you all loved was hated here. Your question is one of relativity, even if Yahoo is the worst of your gripes.

I do feel sorry for you with dear old George of course but he can't help being a plank can he, the worrying thing is of course that most of you voted him in. Not once but twice and your complaining about Yahoo get a Life old Friend.

    ATB Red

  14. Don't like it go else where

and I'm not a fan of Yahoo

  15. You have a good case. I also do  not like censorship either and this site would be better without it.

But Yahoo is a business enterprise and such organizations are not known for promoting free speech. But to give the Devil his due, Yahoo is better in this respect than any newspaper.

PS.  Have you ever heard such servile drivel as that from oklatom? We are not quests of Yahoo, we are customers and therefor partners in its survival and success.

It is such people who make up the squealers at school and the traitors in dictatorships. Get up from your cow towing and crawling oklatom and walk upright like a man

  16. As an US Air Force Veteran. I find your generalization totally without merit. Freedom is not Free. You cannot yell fire in a crowded theater. Your rights are no better than anyone else's rights. Left or Right. Christian or Atheist. Pro Life or Pro Choice.

All I know is that I and a lot of others like me went to war to protect those important freedoms and rights. We knew going in that we may not make it home. But the cause was just and the reward of knowing you made a difference in saving the Constitution was worth the cost.

  17. Why?  The Constitution talks about free speech in govt not in big business.

If you don't like it, take your business elsewhere.  That's the beauty of capitalism, isn't it?

  18. Well good luck.  If you stay within the community guidelines, these things wont happen.  Answer is " no " .

  19. Well let's see

  20. Okay, first, do you have a question?  Remember:

Venting, ranting, or using hate speech.

Yahoo! Answers isn't a soapbox to vent personal frustrations or rant about issues. We are a community of people with diverse beliefs, opinions, and backgrounds, so please be respectful and keep hateful and incendiary comments off Yahoo! Answers.

Once we get past that, you seem to think that free speech is the rule here.  It isn't.  You may have the right to "free speech"  somewhere, but as a guest in my home, I have the right to suppress certain subjects.  Likewise, this is not the public, this is a venue owned and operated by Yahoo who have the right to set rules and consequences for violation of the rules in their web space.  So, consider yourself a guest in Yahoo's home, and follow their rules.

  21. Huh?
