Should a 12 year old wear thongs or even be concerned with panty lines? They should worry about school right?

A co-worker friend of mine said her niece and sister came over and they were talking about going school shopping and needing to get thongs. My friend asked, for her (pointing to the niece) and the sister said yes. She didn't like panty lines and was old enough now to learn how to take care of this problem.

To me, 12 is WAY too young to be worrying about panty lines, much less wearing thongs. They need to be more concerned about school, having fun and just being a kid. What do you think?

I think that talking about thongs only takes up a short amount of time in your day. They're not going to fail school because they're worried about a panty line. That being said, I think you should at least be out of elementary school before you start wearing 'different' undies.   :) 12 is a bit young.

Maybe she shouldn't wear clothes so thin that they show panty lines.

i agree. 12 is way to young to wear thongs, why should anyone be looking at a 12 year olds but. some parents just have no standards

i would agree, but 12 yr old girls are not the same anymore.. their smart and in today fashion and style every girl is pressured and they all want to fit in. a young girls mind is filled with the same thought as every other girl, how do i look,& will they like me? so i would also say that buying her a couple of thongs would be alright.. considering that she only wore them when she really needed them, not just to look older.

I agree 100%! Girls today are too pressured by society and the media to be "s**y." Unfortunately, this is affecting our young girls and pre-teens. If I had a 12 year old, there is NO WAY she is getting thongs!

I definetly agree.  When are we going to stop sexualizing our children, because thats what a 12 year old still is, a child!  Whose looking at that little girl's panty lines anyway???  I'd be more concerned about that!

Girls should be allowed to be girls untill they get to at least high school.  My 13 year old sister doesnt wear thongs and nor does she even think about them.  What a great way to set your daughter up for being the high school tramp!  Let's wait untill after they finish puberty to take the next step into womenhood, they havn't finished girlhood yet and that only last for such a short time in your life.

12 is definitely too young. Maybe get her to wear different underwear. There are regular ones that don't show pantylines, they are just seamless.  I don't know why any girl that age needs to wear a thong anyway. I mean when you bend over or sit down it becomes quite visible, whether you want to see it or not. And it may send her the wrong message. The fact that they make them in sizes for little kids is alarming.
