The baby is a premie born at six months and if she were born on her actual due date would be two months old. She can hardly hold her head up so should she be made to sit up?

  1. So she's actually 5 months, in age yes? No, either way, she's still young. Premature babies do often take a bit longer doing everything so wait a month or so. If she's only just holding up her head, she won't be ready to sit for a while yet. Prop her up on a chair or in a baby bouncer to give her the view of being sat up and she might 'fight' to do it. If you;re worried at all, ask your health visitor or doctor.

  2. no that isnt good for her spine. if she is completly supported its ok but she shouldnt be sitting up by herself.

  3. no, 2 months is too early. My daughter is 6 months corrected age (almost 10 months really) and only just starting sitting her own and she can't even sit for more then a minute without falling over. For preemies you always go by there corrected age until 2 or 3.

  4. no at two months; babies are just figuring out how to hold their heads up. i wouldnt worry

if you worried; talk to your doctor

    they can always reassure you.

  5. My son was on time and is 5 months and just now nearly sitting up unassisted. Right now tummy time is all you should worry about working on. For tummy time holding her chest to chest while reclined or laying down flat counts.
