My boyfriends son is 3 and ahalf and i can't understand his speaking. He is extremely unclear and just repeats the same thing over and over until you say "Yeah..." I think when his mother has his she doens't talk to him. His sisters (not my boyfriends girls) can't speak either and htey are 6 and 8. He is 3 and when you tell him something he just says "Huhhhh??" My mother told me I was speaking at 2 years and By three I was speaking very well. I'm just worried. Is he okay?

  1. a 3.5 year old should be fairly easy to understand. My son has a moderate speech delay and most people can understand him a good bit of the time and he is 2.5 years old and has only been speaking about 2 months.

all 3 kids need to be tested by the local school system for possible speech therapy. the older girls can get it at school for free and the boy may be eligible for special ed preschool and get therapy there

  2. He should be seen by a doctor.  He might have autism, hearing problems or something else.

  3. i've never heard of a toddler speaking that late! i really think that its not a terrible dilemma or anything but i think it would b wise if u help to guide him. maybe if u and ur boyfriend worked to help him whenever ur boyfriend has him. i also was speaking well at 3 even though speaking took awhile for my parents to teach me! the best thing to do is to b patient with him and reward him when he gets something right! start off with easy words like at: at can become many words similar to bat, cat, fat, hat, that, rat, sat, mat, gnat, chat, brat, pat, etc. with words like these he can learn one basic sound and then learn over 10 new words easily! also when u talk to him or ask him a question make sure that u r speaking very clearly becuz he may b able to recognize some words if he can hear them clearly! & always remember to b consistent! don't give up on him! best of luck! hope i helped!

  4. Not if you think he'll turn out like his sisters.

  5. He should be speaking where you can make out what he is saying. Have him checked out with a doctor, he may have a speech impediment and may have to go to speech therapy.
