  1. I've been to see Metallica 3 times and I'm 16 (first time when I was 11) and he should be okay. It depends if he's on the ground though because he might not be able to see. Other than that, let him go !!

    SERIOUSLY, HE'LL BE FINE !!

  2. Yeah for sure,he should be at least 8 to be allowed to do that.

  3. I think it's fine. Make sure you keep an eye on him THE ENTIRE time and make him wear ear plugs.

If you're in the standing area, don't even think of taking him.

  4. You are not overreacting at all. 7 years old is way too young to go to a Metallica concert. Does he care if his son is exposed to drugs, alcohol, s*x and violence? Does he not realize that people get rowdy and just don't care about others well being and his son can get seriously hurt?  Good luck!

  5. NO!!  Im sure you understand the crowd Metallica brings, and you do not want your 7yr old son there!

  6. Maybe a little bit. I was 5 during my first concert which happened to be metallica. Just keep him in the back row, and he should be fine. don't forget ear plugs.

  7. yes, you are overreacting. It's not a rap concert. Its FRIGGIN METALLICA! one of the last great bands today. It's not going to be a bad influence, it's going to be something awesome he'll remember the rest of his life. So long as your ex keeps his eye on hm and isn't drunk the whole time or anything, he should be fine. Why not?!

To the chick above me, how in the world is it a bad influence? One can hardly even understand what they're saying. Their music is good, and you gotta let kids live a little. Don't shelter them, it'll only backfire.

I went to ACDC when I was 6...loved it. Went to Ozzfest when I was 14....I only listened to a couple bands out of the 40+ bands that were there. I'm fine, and I'm quite the wholesome young lady. Not some wannabe rocker drug-addict or whatever your afraid is going to happen to your kid.

  8. um your Ex may have smoke what metallica smoke before  getting on stage. No don't take her,Tell me how will you feel if they start talking about drugs and s*x on stage.Your trying to keep a 7yr old on a positive road the world is already messed up.

  9. I can see why this man is your "Ex"..........he's a moron.

Over my dead body would my kid ever see a Metallica concert.

  10. wow.

i think no. even if its an all age concert i would say no. i mean its a great band but i think he's too young and it will influence him in a bad way.

  11. Sure, just make sure he wears earplugs... those concerts are LOUD...

  12. IMHO...he's too young!

  13. sure why not, why not take him to a rage against the machine concert, their really good

  14. Any concert you go to, whether Metallica or Phil Collins WILL have pot smoke in the air.

I really don't think that lyrics, etc have anything to do with it.    If you're ok with your kid being around pot smoke, then I'd say go for it.   Otherwise, stay at home.  This has nothing to do with Metallica.  If I had to decide just based on lyrics...or heaviness, I'd say there is no problem.  Metallica is awesome in concert.

Another idea would be to book a seat way in the back.  You'll get all of the action with minimal pot smoke.

  15. NO! It's a very ba d and loud concert for kids. you can take him to hannah Montana and jonah Brothers concert.

You can have a babysitter or grandparent take him to Disney on Ice or hockey game. He might like hockey games.

you are not overreacting, you asked the right guestion!!!+

  16. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

  17. No - you're not overreacting. I went to my first concert when I was 7 or 8, but it was for the Backstreet Boys. Metallica is a bit rough for a 7 year old.

  18. I wouldn't take a 7 year old but if it is during his visitation time and he isn't going to be drinking then he has the right to spend the time with his son how he wants really.  I know I would find it to loud for a child to go to and it might hurt his ears, plus they are usually late at night when a 7 year old doesn't need to be out and then you have to worry if there will be drinking and drugs there, but parents like to look cool sometimes and if your son likes listening to the music then he might feel that it would be a fun thing for them to do together.

  19. The first "real" concert I went to was a Skillet concert when I was 14. The youngest person I saw there was a 9 year old who was in our group. She either spent the whole time right in front of me in the front AWAY from the moshers or on somebody's shoulders in the back. When I was young I was very sensitive to sound and loud noises would scare me, so bring ear plugs.

Also be prepared to have whining - whining it's too hot, it's too loud, they're thirsty, they're tired -  and just when you get a good spot for you to see, he's going to say that he can't, or that he has to go potty.

I've never listened to Metallica, but check the lyrics, are they appropriate for a 7 year old? Are you aware of the type of crowd a Metallica concert can bring? - not saying all Metallica listeners are bad. These concerts really can't geared towards young children - so I'm going to have to agree with you by saying no.

Take him to go see Batman instead =]

  20. I don't think the band itself is too rough for a 7 year old, but the crowd might be. Drinking, pot smoking, b***s flashing. I probably wouldn't let my son go.

  21. there is mosh pits there so no. Now if it was Garth brooks or something then sure. Also if there in the stands id think about it more. there will prob be people smoking pot so... that's an problems. I say 7 is to young to be out that late because im sure it will run late. I went to my first one when i was 8 or 9 but it was a folk band in Minnesota and it was over by around 9 30 -10
