I mean look what happened in the Derby? Let the girls run with the girls. And did you see the whipping, isn't that cruelty to annimals?

  2. Philley?  Do you think that a person from Philadelphia shouldn't run in a horse race?  I don't either.  I think it should all be horses.  Stallions, geldings and fillies.

  3. No. Not at all. I think there should be two sepperate races--one for males, one for females. I think the Kentucky Derby is animal cruelty.

  4. The legendary Bill Shoemaker said for years that he rarely went to the whip....saying, how would it feel if someone started whipping you as you were running as hard as you can.

    Other countries with Thoroughbred racing have much stricter rules on the use of the whip than in this nation.

    Equally, other nation's have zero-tolerance on the use of drugs on these athletes, unless they are truly injured or ill. I don't believe anyone knows for sure how healthy any racer is on any track in this nation due to the number of legal medications that are used, whether or not they are needed.

    This isn't so much a filly and colt issue, it is a health issue, and the industry is dragging its feet into irrelevance because it is business as usual with needles & drug cocktails.

  6. What happened to Eight Belles could have happened to any racehorse, whether it be stallion, gelding, or FILLY.  Look at what happened to Barbaro two years ago, for instance.  A freak accident.

    The whip is used more for urging on.  The jockeys don't beat their mounts with them.  It's not cruelty at all.
