Question:

Should a man walk besides or in front of a woman (when out) ?

Be it a date or a casual hang out, or while walking to some destination together.

I dunno, it seems that usually when I see a woman walking ahead of a man while on a date or in the above situations- it typically shows that she has no attraction or respect for him, and the end of the date will usually show this.

As opposed to watching powerful men with their dates; you usually see the man leading the women by walking in front. You don't see her off in front forcing him to keep stride with her. How often do you see this in a couple who is successful?

Watch blind date, look at the dates where a woman is walking ahead of a man, then see how those dates turn out.

  1. I don't pay much attention, but if a man were to "lead" me through a crowded room, fine - saves me (I'm short) from having to prod my way through people.  However, if he makes a big show about it or acts like he is vastly superior to me, I'm outta there.

  2. ideally you should deffinitly be besides each other

  3. beside

  4. I don't think a man should ever walk behind a woman unless he's holding a door open for her.

They should walk side by side, unless he is leading her somewhere, like across a room or into a house, then he should be in front, but he should always be touching her when doing this (holding her hand while leading her) so that it doesn't seem like an arrogant move.

  5. Wouldn't it depend how narrow the pathway is, how crowded it is, if the pathway is level underfoot, etc? Sometimes it is impossible or uncomfortable to walk side by side with another person.

However, where it is comfortable and convenient to do so, walking beside someone would show you are interested in talking with them, sharing their time and space.

But, as is often the case with older people, one is more active and goes ahead to clear a 'path' for the other so that people don't bump into their walking frame or stick (my mother does this for my father).

It often has nothing to do with feelings of superiority.

Walking in front or behind is the sort of thing royalty does, or perhaps people who are more pushy types.

Howevber, if someone did walk ahead for that reason (superiority) why would anyone date them? Find someone who thinks more highly of you than that!

    Cheers :-)

  6. Beside until they are walking to a door then he should fall back a bit and reach out to open the door and allow her to enter first.

  7. I think they should walk next to each other, just because its hard to talk to te back of someone's head.

  8. Everyone knows your supposed to run in a zig zag pattern....... Wait srry I think thats how to get away from crocodiles.

Who cares walk on your hands if you want.

  9. BESIDE!

you should be at each others side, for each other, as equals.

while walking at the mall one time, i saw a couple walking side by side HOLDING HANDS!

!!! they looked to be in thier 70's!!! :-)

they looked sooo happy. it made me happy seeing them!

one instance where you can let her walk ahead and things will be good... read my source...

  10. well sometimes i lead my bf (we're holding hands) through crowds but that is just because i am more assertive if we need to get somewhere, but i think beside is good. different situations can give different results.

  11. People have to plan how to walk these days before they go on a date do they? First I’ve heard of it; seems kind of inept and ridiculous. I walk at my speed; I don’t give a **** how other people are walking. Is this a joke question? I am a fast walker and take big steps; most people have to keep up with me. I don't understand why that is an ISSUE??

  12. i hate it when a guy tries to walk in front of me. i dont ever answer their

call again. that and if they cant buy me a drink or dinner they're out

    too

  13. beside her and arm in arm. make the date feel special.

  14. I think you have a point there. I walk beside him, and sometimes he leads because he knows where the h**l we're going, especially in Fry's Electronics store. :)

Beside each other is best, even if you aren't holding hands.

  15. Walk together with the man on the outside or next to road.

  16. walk next to her and u will get better results

  17. They should be walking hand in hand. In my own experience, if a guy feels like walking in front of me, I turn around and walk away. He is forced to chase me, which is a pretty undignified experience. However, he will never get another chance with me, and he will refrain from doing that to other women.

  18. beside her. Unless he's trying to check out her you know what.

  19. beside or behind

  20. My dog pulls ahead of me but he's on leash. Sometimes he's behind me and that is just as irritating. Humans should be able to walk side by side or else its rude. So if a person walks either ahead or behind you is either in a hurry or do not wish to connect with you for that moment. That is possible too.

  21. Usually my wife and I walk side by side, and hold hands whenever possible. ( We like to keep in touch... literally. )  During formal occasions, she takes my arm. When going through crowds, I take her hand and lead her through. If there isn't enough room to walk comfortably side by side, she walks behind me. Doing it this way comes naturally, and works for us.

  22. beside....need to be able to see whom one is  talking to.

wow, senseless to walk in front or behind. the only exception is if they are in a crowd, still holding and not letting go of each other does the  trick.

  23. definitely beside her. and if you want to be a true gentleman you ALWAYS walk on the street side.  That way if something were to be splashed by a passing car then the man would take the brunt of it and not the lady.
