Question:

Should a motorcycle inadvertently go into a power-slide or a skid, which tires are known for safe recoveries?

Outside of the racetrack, nobody wants to slide their tires, whether it is braking induced drift or throttle induced over-steer.

But we're all human and make mistakes, so IF that happens, which brand and model of tires would give you the best chance for a safe recovery? Conversely, which brands seem to be known for setting up their riders for violent high-sides, or hair-trigger low-sides?

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

  1. Outside of the race track you shouldn't be pushing it that hard.

the usual rule is to drive to the conditions of the road.

On the track its all down to throttle control and knowing when to load and unload the front.

Tyre choice is purely down to personal preference . the softer the tyre the more grip. the harder the tyre the longer it lasts.

one thing for certain you are not going to get the same tyres they use on the track for your road bike.

more often than not its the wrist not the tyre that causes High sides.

And lack of front brake that causes low sides (or excessive braking)

  2. If its going to kick out, it will do it with whatever tyres you have on.

  3. well most of it depends on the rider. if you think it might happen and you are somewhat ready you might recover if not your hitting the ground hard
