Should a person's faith be strong enough to withstand questions?

If so, what might it say about Christians who had a completely legitimate question of mine deleted?

(It was a question about why many Christians continue to vote for Republicans based solely on the abortion issue in spite of the fact that they haven't outlawed it, even with 7 justices on the Supreme Court.)

I know you guys will say "How do you know it was Christians who reported you?" but c'mon, now. Common sense tells me so.

PS: My thanks, in advance, for also reporting this.

  1. 1 PETER 3:15

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have..."

Yes, according to the Bible it should be.

  2. Aww... I think I answered that one too.

  3. Yes, but that's not to say it's reality.

I would guess they don't like the truth. Some people here seem to be really offended by facts that don't support their way of thinking. I find that many come here to validate their opinions, rather than to learn - or possibly examine things from a different perspective.

  4. Dude I know.

That is so dumb. Someone asked if some people should just leave g**s alone, and my answer was "Exactly, some people just feel the need to control others"

Deleted. 3 days after I answered.

    !?!?!

  5. yes unless they are christian fanatics.

  6. Good question.

Interesting story - about 8 years ago, there was a local election between a supporter and a non-supporter of guns.  Many folks said that they would vote for the supporter ONLY because of that issue.  I wrote into the local paper saying that they were one-issue voters and should be ashamed of themselves.  They would be sitting on the curb, no house, no car, no food, but dang it!  They had their guns!

I'm a social liberal (moderate) and fiscal conservative (moderate).  Would you believe I had an extreme right wing group write to me - praising me for my letter?

Politics makes strange bedfellows, indeed.  We must look at the whole picture when we vote. And be informed with our votes!

    </soapbox>

  7. a Person's faith should be strong enough to withstand being questioned.  Why would they remove that question? because it made them think.

  8. A person's faith should always be able to be questioned, very simply put. If the faith cannot take the challenge, there should be little belief.

Faith and belief without knowledge or understanding is useless.

  9. It is sad that people vote solely on the abortion issue. There are many other issues that should concern them as well. You make an excellent point about it not being repealed. Apparently some politicians don't necessarily follow through with campaign promises. Gee, who would have thought that would happen.

  10. Yeah, I love when they're like "maybe it was the atheists who reported you". I don't even report questions and answers I hate why would I report an atheist post? I mean, maybe if I was being proved wrong all the time it would be different. So I can kind of understand where the theists are coming from. It would be like if you were completely in love with someone and everyone, including forensic evidence, told you they were a bad person.

  11. I don't know why, I thought it was a good question..However, why do you assume the abortion issue is their sole reason for voting Republican?

    np, I was just wondering..

  12. Cod bless you for continuing to ask.  It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

  13. It says that they are insecure ninnies.

  14. Consider yourself lucky, Penguin, that they deleted you.  In years past, you would have been burned at the stake or hung from the highest tree

  15. A persons faith should be able to withstand any question and any test if it is all powerful.

  16. A person with really strong faith should be willing to answer any and all questions.  Oh wait, that is how a rational person with strong faith would be...  never mind.

And don't let them get you down, brother.  I have often asked Mormons some really difficult (yet polite or neutral) questions about their faith, and the question usually vanishes quietly into the land of deletion.

  17. I refuse to vote for a candidate that has voted for abortions.  If I do, I am going against God's Word and that I will not do.  God strictly says, "do not shed innocent blood."  God says, "life is in the blood."

Life begins at conception if life is in the blood and aborted babies is shedding innocent blood.

I don't vote against God's word.  If both Republican and Democrat voted for abortions, then I would not vote at all.  It just so happens that McCain has a record of voting against abortion and Obama has a record of voting for abortion.  McCain is my man of God.

Life is simple.  Follow the Word of God and you will suffer no consequences in the life after death.  I'm placing my points in heaven and not on this earth.  I'm not here to win friends and influence people.

    I'm here to please God.

  18. Considering the 100,000 + times "Why are atheists in R&S" has been asked, that's obviously a major concern for believers.  Anything true will stand up to questioning.  Religion doesn't.

  19. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing the Word of God,..so Christians that hear should be able to answer because a true Christian studies and gets to know God and His Word.   I'm a Christian who has voted independent for years now.  Christians should vote through their own thinking  and not because a man behind a pulpit persuades them.  God gives us choice and even if I don't believe in something sometimes ,the majority  in this country in voting is what passes a law and God tells us we are to abide by the laws of the land.
