Should a pillow top on a mattress be the same size as the mattress it's attatched to?

I just recieved my new Cal King mattress which is supposed to be 72" wide x 84" long. My 6' 8" tall hubby (for whom the length is important) noticed it seemed short. After measuring the pillow top we found it was! It is 82" long on one side and 80.5" long on the other for length. The width is 70" on the bottom and 71" at the top.

We paid (on sale) $5,680.00 for this mattress--on sale.

Would you expect the pillow top to be the measurements stated on the tag or is this normal to be this much off?

  1. supposed to be the same size thats why it was on sale

  2. the reason it is off is where they pulled the top and sides together and sewed the tape edge around it.most all will be like that but for the money you should demand perfection.sounds like a top of the line bedding set which got past quality control.

  3. you should call who ever you got the matress from and ask them they should fix it for you

  4. no there suposed to be the exact size call them where you bought it from and tell them see what they say

  5. i haven't heard of a brand new bed being so off on its measurements, i would suggest going to the store and talking to them too see if they can replace it or something.  id you dont take it back you can say you have a Picaso rip-off in ur bedroom
