Should a pregnant woman be allowed to give input on her own baby shower?

Should you have any say in your own baby shower or should the hostess get to do everything their way? Why?

I think the woman should have some say in it. However, I am runnning into a problem with my hostess. You would think with being 55 years old she would know etiquette. Apparently she doesn't. I don't want to sound selfish but we had to take pay the deposit for the restaurant (she did pay us back), I sat for 4.5 hours and did all the invitations, and now she got mad because I said I wanted the decorations to be a surprise... and that I didn't want to get there early to decorate. I have found all of this to be very stressful and I almost didn't bother mailing the invitations because she acted like I don't want to help with anything. My back is still hurting...

She seems to think it's rude to ask for help from some of the ladies she knows, but not rude to ask us for help. She acts very grumpy like she doesn't even want to throw the shower. I hope everything goes well on that day....
