Question:

Should a skateboard lean so easily?

I've never skateboarded before. I just got a Krown skateboard. I know this doesn't have a good rep among pros, but from the research I did, it still met the fundamental specifications for a quality board. I got it today, and the trucks seems to lean too easily to the right or the left to where I wonder whether I would able to keep balance riding it. I know trucks can be loose so as to more easily enable turning, but how loose should they be? Are the trucks poorly constructed, or is this just my perception due to my riding inexperience? I fear that if I try to ride it, I will easily fall off because it leans so much. I am 6 feet tall and 180 lbs so I don't think it's a matter of me being too heavy for the board.

  1. Trucks are set to the rider's preference.  New boards tend to have softer bushings.  They get harder after a few sessions riding them.  You can tighten them up to your liking, but do it after you have broken them in.  If you don't you can blow the bushings and will have to get new ones.

Once they have broken in, tighten them 1/4 turn and try riding.  repeat this until you find a setting that works for you.

  2. alright i know im a girl but i know wat im talking about.

the trucks should be loose enough so you can turn....but tight enough that you wont fall off every time you turn.

yeah if it leans too much you need to tighten them.

and what brand trucks do you have? and then i can tell you if they are "poorly constructed". :]

  3. That is easy to fix, we callum dodo's and they are the two rubber like things in each truck.... you need to replace those with stiffer ones, they are cheep and you can getum at your local skateshop..... It is good to start with stiffer side trucks if you want to learn the agressive stuff but on a long board it may help with speed woble.... dont worrie about falling off because your trucks turn... most likely it will be going to fast or just hiting a rock or something..... I ride stiff trucks and do manual like things to turn most of the time....
