I am tutoring and I have a student who submits homework questions and does not put any input into it but wants me to complete the assignment for them. They are willing to pay good money but I am not at all comfortable.

  1. I would do it. It's there problem if they arent learning the material.

  2. No, no and no!

Just like we shouldn't do it up here either!

A tutor is there to HELP the student learn. If you're doing the work, you're not doing your job. Don't be pressured into it by a lazy brat! There are plenty of others needing a good tutor who ARE willing to work!

  3. that is why i am paying him/her

  4. How is someone going to learn if another person does the homework for them? You should not do their homework but guide them to figure out the answer for themselves.

  5. That is not the job of a tutor.  A tutor is to help them understand the material themselves.  It is to provide one on one guidance and instruction, preferable to the classroom setting.  They should not get credit for your work.  I would tell them the student needs to participate in the session, or you will find a student who actually wants to learn.

  6. ^

  7. Don't compromise your values for another's foolishness. I would find work tutoring someone who wants to learn.

  8. It is not in a student's best interests to have home work done by anyone else.  That is like gathering  fruit before it's ripe.
