  1. They're Not stinky they are nice not annoying and Yeah pretty much the perfect pet .

    But hey that's me

  2. go for it!

i had my first hamster when i was nine.im sure that your mature engough to handle one..just take good care of it=)good luck!

  3. I got one when I was three. just buy them from a breeder! shelter pigs are expensive, even if you're "rescuing" them. breeder piggies can be like 5 dollars! go around and read some websites to know everything you can! :)

  4. they tend to be a bit noisy at times and it can be expensive when you first get oe you have to but the animal the cage and all the necessary things that is needed for it to survive if you can be dedicated to cleaning it's cage and feeding it and making sure that it is properly taken care of then it makes a wonderful pet, I would do more research on them to find out exactly what their needs are go to a pet store and ask for them to help you in making your decision they should be able to tell you how to take care of it , i work at a pet store and they have care sheets available good luck

  5. ok

  6. I am 14 years old and own two male guinea pigs. They live in my room and i am their single provider. I have owned many rodents, and guinea pigs are by far my favorite rodent to own. I would suggest purchasing two (or more, but be prepared for little ones if not spayed/neutered) seeing as guinea pigs are heard animals.

I also like the sounds they make, to me its calming and adorable. Guinea pigs are also known not to bite, but of course that is up to the animal itself. None of my guineas have ever bit me , aside from the curious nibble here and there.

On the note of money, i manage by babysitting and chores. The cage is typically from 30-60 dollars, but that is a one time exspence. The bedding is 8-10 dollars for a bag that will last one to two months if you change it weekly. and the food costs me 5-10 dollars for 2-3 moths. I hope this helps :)

    Sincerely,

    Mo

p.s I also suggest joining your local 4-H group if you do end up purchasing a guinea pig, it's a great learning exsperience!

  7. If you can adopt a pair, take care of them and can afford them, yet.

  8. Yes you should get a guinea pig. they're not expensive, annoying they are nice and easy to take care of.

  9. My little sister is eleven and has two guinea pigs. They are both boys (so, we wouldn't buy a pregnant one). I'll try looking up a site that explains what first time guinea pig owners need. Both boys are nice and give kisses. They squeak for treats and when they're happy. And the long haired one was $27 and the short haired one was $20. They need a large cage because guinea pigs love to run around. I'll edit this post with the link. Good luck.

That's the ASPCA's website on guinea pigs. Good luck again.

  10. i think 12 is an exellint age to get a pet!!but guinea pigs are verry high matnins and nead lots of attention...i would start with somthing more easy like a hamster or rat!

good luck finding a furry friend!!!

  11. I had two guinea pigs when I was your age. They were great and lived for about 8 years. They can become very tame and affectionate.

Expense wise, they would take up a fair amount of your pocket money, I would imagine. You'd need bedding and food. Maybe your parents could help you out with that?

Sound wise, they're no more annoying than lots of animals. I have a hamster at the moment, thinking she'd be quieter, but her constant gnawing can be loud, too!

Just be aware that they can live to be old and that they are a long term commitment. You may want to consider where you'd like to keep them too. Would you want an indoor pet, or would you keep them in a hutch outside? I opted for a hutch as I had an appropriate garden at the time (this helped with the noise) but if you don't, you'll want to look into indoor cages. The type you can buy for guinea pigs are usually way too small and more like the size of my hamster cage. You'll need something bigger and a lot of people build their own. Have a look at this website, it has lots of useful information http://www.guineapigcages.com/

Also, you'd be better to keep them in pairs as they are social animals. Do you have the space for two? If you do opt for a pair, try to get two females as they are far more docile. Males can be aggressive if not neutered and you obviously don't want a male and a female.

I think if you feel this is really right for you, you will find them to be a very satisfying pet.

    Hope this helped.

  12. You should get at least 2 guinea pigs as they need company. They need to be kept indoors somewhere where people are around often as they are very sociable creatures. They are very friendly. They are diurnal and so don't cause disturbances to sleep.

They need a large cage and need to be able to go into either a secure run in a garden or (if you don't have one) they need to run around a room in the house.

They need to have hay and pellet food constantly and fresh vegetables every day, which can get expensive.

If you are serious then I advise you to get some books on guinea pigs and google guinea pigs.

If you get them them I would suggest you go a rescue centre and adopt some instead of getting them from a pet shop

  13. 1. They are nice enough animals- they don't scratch, are very rare to bite, easy to handle...

    2. They do make some annoying squealing noise, but how annoying it is depends on where you're keeping them.

    3. Generally cheap to buy and keep but they may cost money at the vets in the future, like many animals.

    4. It's a good idea to get TWO guinea pigs. Not one now and one later, but two now from the same cage- from a pet store- or the same litter- from a breeder/shelter. Females are less likely to fight than males. They need pellets but also UNLIMITED hay, plus fruit and vegetables.

  14. they are A LOT nicer then other rodents. They dont bite but if they do, heres some tips:

"figure out why the guinea pig is biting. is it because the animal is un comfortable and something is causing pain? is it trying to tell you something? is the pig so terrified, that it feels biting is the only way to defend itself? or is the pig just being bratty?

if its a medical issue, the behavior almost immedietly ceases once thats cleared up. if youre pieting your pig from front to back, and tickiling the daylights out of it, try something else. if the pig really is just being a brat, then you can sometimes stop the behavior with a sharp 'no!'"

some of the veggies can get expensive, so use them wisley, and try to preserve them as best as you can.

  15. Sure! I'm 13 and got one a month ago. They are the best joys in life ever! But yes, they are expensive. Not the guinea pigs themselves, but they have to have a cage and everything that goes with it. Plus, you need to give it a big bowl of fruits and vegetables everyday! And you have to clean the cage once a week. They are very sweet and gentle, and won't bite. They make sounds when they are happy and when they are hungry, but it isn't annoying. It's so cute! You will love him/her if you get one! Just make sure you can afford it!

  16. I don't know much about Guinea Pigs, they are cute..but i have a Gerbil, they are really good pets but anything you want to read about, just look it up on Wikipedia.org
