Question:

Should adultery be illegal?

I find it odd that sometimes we as Americans pick, and choose which sins are the worst, while winking or totally ignoring the others. There are some who want to ban same s*x marriages. As in to protest, and appeal to the government to make it illegal.

How many of these same people would appeal to the government to make adultery illegal? I'm not a proponent of same s*x marriage or adultery. I just find it rather odd; actually forget the term odd. It's hypocritical. Society has more tolerance for those who cheat on their spouses but no tolerance for same s*x marriages? Hypocritical. Totally.

  1. gret idea for adultery to be illegal - but how would it be policed!?

it goes on all the time & only a percentage of it is found out, as some think its ok as long as not found out, so no-one is hurt.

but truth will out, & then ppl will be hurt.

afraid there's no hope of making adultery illegal - but nice idea!

it is so hurtful to be cheated on by your partner - must be worse to be cheated on by your - spouse.

    good luck.

  2. It is "taboo" or frowned upon but it is not illegal. We should be free to make decisions no matter how stupid they are. Whether I choose to flunk high school or attack a person on the street I must face the consequences. I don't tolerate adultery and collectively it is still frowned upon but there is more acceptance growing. Remember that because America is not entirely Christian the common "sins" are bound to change with time. I am curious why homosexual unions are not allowed. If two people want to express commitment to each other they should be allowed to do so. It is not a legal issue but an issue of personal choice. The government would love to take away our choices while collecting our money. What sort of machine is wasting our money at tax time? It is time to make some better decisions. In my opinion the issue woulddisappearr if the overly concerned government would just say "okay".

  3. I think the argument is... marriage is a legal binding contract and adultery is a morale issue.

I don't think that adultery should be illegal, that's a private matter.

And I have nothing against same s*x marriages, if a couple is in love and want to enter pledge via marriage, more power to 'em.

  4. I am with you.  I am a supporter of g*y marriage.  And what I find so often is the people who are lobbying against it, are the people that are also cheating on their spouses.  They claim loss on the sanctity of marriage, but I cannot fathom that having s*x with someone else behind your spouses back is really honoring the sanctity of marriage.

What about open marriages, swingers?  I dont see anyone standing up to deny those people rights.

  5. yeah...

  6. I wish it could be, not for my own good but for the good of others. But without doubt some people would go against me and the idea 2.
